DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

Due to the construction and realignment of US 61 in Clinton County, the official description of US 61 in Clinton County should be changed in the Primary Road System to reflect this.

 

Transfer of jurisdiction agreement number 96-TJ-010 then transferred six segments of US 61 to Clinton County on December 20, 1996.  Transfer of jurisdiction 96-TJ-011 then transferred the segments of US 61 within the corporate limits of the City of Welton to the City on December 5, 1996.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended the old description for US 61 in Clinton County be deleted from the Primary Road System and the new description, as described in the attachment, be added to the Primary Road System.

 

New Description: US 61 and its extensions in Clinton County described as follows:

 

Beginning on the Clinton-Scott County line at a point approximately 79.25 meters (260 feet) south and 61 meters (200 feet) east of the W ¼ Corner Section 1-T80N-R3E; thence northerly through the west part of Section 1-T80N-R3E and Sections 36, 25, 24 (south junction US 30), 13 and 14-T81N-R3E to the south corporation line of DeWitt connecting with an unnamed street.

 

DeWitt:

 

Beginning on the south corporation line connecting with an unnamed street; thence northerly to the north corporation line connecting with an unnamed street.

DISCUSSION/BACKGROUND:

 

US 61 was relocated from the Clinton‑Scott County line in the SW ¼ Section 1‑T80N‑R3E northerly to a junction with US 30 at the southwest edge of DeWitt. The official description of US 61 should be revised to reflect this relocation. The remainder of US 61 remains unchanged.

 

The old alignment of US 61 from the Clinton‑Scott County line in the SE ¼ of Section 31‑T81N‑R4E northerly to a junction with US 30 and Unsigned Iowa 956 in DeWitt should be re-designated as a portion of Unsigned Iowa 956.

 

US 61 begins at the Clinton‑Scott County line approximately three (3) miles south of DeWitt and travels northerly and northwesterly via DeWitt and Welton to the Clinton‑Jackson County line approximately four (4) miles northwest of Delmar.

 

PROPOSAL/ACTION RECOMMENDATION:

 

It is recommended to approve revising the description of US 61 in Clinton County and including the new description in the primary road system.

Due to an annexation to the south part of DeWitt, in the south US 30, US 61 and Unsigned Iowa 956 interchange area; the present description of US 61 in Clinton County should be revised.
